BusMan (BusMen?) go for an evening Downtown

My friend Paul lives in Long Beach. I live in the Fairfax area. We wanted to get together for dinner, so we chose a restaurant downtown. He took the Blue Line subway. I took the #16 bus down Third Street. Both let us off within 4 blocks of the restaurant. No traffic, no parking, read a book. I didn't wait more than ten minutes for the bus either way, even though we left the restaurant at 9:30 p.m. Downtown was well lit, people around, very safe feeling. Paul was thrilled that he could get downtown in less than 40 minutes, no driving, no traffic. He said it made downtown feel much more accessible. Public transit; when you plan it, it works.
